Define the question before sending samples
A sample trial should answer whether a defined part and process are suitable for the proposed welding setup. It does not establish factory-wide output or investment returns. The checklist below is our procurement guidance, not a certification procedure.
Prepare a representative sample pack
- Drawings with material grade, thickness, joint details and weld locations.
- Actual parts showing normal fit-up variation, not only a specially prepared sample.
- Current batch sizes and separate loading, welding, inspection and changeover times.
- Known defects, access restrictions and fixture drawings or photographs.
- Your acceptance criteria and any applicable customer specifications.
Ask the trial provider to identify missing information before agreeing to the test scope. For buyers in Indonesia and Malaysia sending samples across borders, confirm transport responsibilities, sample handling and return arrangements in writing before dispatch.
Agree what evidence you will receive
Request a record linking each tested part to its setup, welding conditions and inspection result. Discuss repeated loading and a representative changeover, rather than judging only the best weld in a video. Separate setup time from production time and identify any manual intervention.
A successful demonstration is not, by itself, proof of procedure qualification. TWI explains that a welding procedure specification records welding variables, with qualification supported by separate test evidence.
Turn the trial into a purchasing decision
Compare results with your agreed criteria and record unresolved items, fixture changes and further testing. Confirm the proposed supply scope separately; do not treat a demonstration as a delivery or performance commitment. Discuss your application with CBOXTEC.
